experiencing medical symptoms?

If you’re experiencing symptoms as a result of exposure to BioLab’s catastrophe, please click the button to the right and fill out the form. We are organizing a public health survey, but we must be as specific as possible.

Enough is enough.

The country watched in horror as dangerous chemicals filled the skies across Metro Atlanta in the wake of a devastating hurricane. Communities impacted by these events were clear in their demand: Shutdown BioLab for good. This company has a history of damaging public health, and they’ve run out of chances.

Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund has launched this website and this coalition to support the creation of an independent, nonpartisan community-led effort to hold these corporate polluters accountable. This is not about political party or affiliation. This is about showing that, when our people are threatened, we don’t wait for others to show us what to do. In other words:

WE KEEP US SAFE.

Volunteer today

We demand the following for our communities:

  1. Shut down BioLab immediately. The facility poses an imminent danger to public health. One time is an accident. Two times is suspect. Three times is a pattern.

  2. Health Screenings for all area residents. Given the company’s repeated historical failures to protect our communities from toxic gas and pollution, we must conduct a comprehensive health evaluation covering the past 20 years to ensure no one has gotten cancer, lymphoma, asthma, or any other serious conditions from BioLab’s negligence.

  3. Full compensation for workers and residents affected by the chemical fire. This includes medical care for those suffering from exposure, relocation assistance, and financial compensation for lost wages, housing, and livelihood.

  4. A comprehensive evacuation plan and stipends to cover all expenses for anyone unable to work due to the toxic smoke and chemical exposure. No one should have to choose between their job and their health.

  5. Declare a state of emergency in the Metro Atlanta area, and provide transportation and temporary housing, and permanent housing if necessary, for those displaced by this disaster. Federal and state agencies must step in immediately to offer resources.

  6. Organize a large-scale cleanup initiative to prioritize the removal of hazardous chemicals and toxic substances from the air, water, soil, and surrounding infrastructure. There must be regular public reports on decontamination progress and the types and quantities of materials removed.

  7. Prosecute KIK Consumer Products executives responsible for this disaster. The CEO, board members, and anyone responsible for this avoidable fire should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
